Russell E. Glesener

Russell E. “Russ” Glesener, 65, expired on the morning of March 21, 2022 in San Marcos, Texas following a prolonged illness.

He was a loving husband, father, and friend.  Russ was an avid sportsman who enjoyed spending as much time as possible outdoors, whether on the water or in the woods.  He was a competitive archer for many years, winning the 2008 Archer Shooter’s Association championship, as well as state and national titles.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clete and Catherine Glesener and his sister Angie James.

Russ was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1956 while his father was in the Air Force. The family moved several times, eventually settling in Austin, Texas.  He graduated from Crockett High School and Texas State University(SWT).

Russ was a successful paint contractor in the area for over three decades.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Catherine Z. Glesener, daughter Willa Glesener, brother Jim Glesener of Gardiner, Maine, sister in law Wendy Zwiener and her partner Nick Daughtrey, and many nieces and nephews.

Russ will be remembered by friends as a person who loved to share a story and a cold Shiner Bock.

A celebration of his life will be held on April 2, 2022 from 3 to 5 at 301 Deer Trail Drive, San Marcos, Texas.
