Thelma Jean Chenault passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at the age of 79. She resided in Corpus Christi, TX. She was born in 1941 in San Antonio, TX to Leroy Smith and Otelia Tyler. She was married to Lee(Red) Collins and had 3 beautiful boys: Lee, Darrell and Frankie. Then she was married to Lloyd Chenault for over 20 years.
Thelma graduated from Shaw Barber College, DelMarCollege and SanAntonio College. The International Theology Center(ITC) is where she received a certificate in Theology. She worked 40 plus years in the healthcare system as a medical records clerk, Certified health unit coordinator, monitor tech, and a hospital volunteer. After retiring she worked for Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio as an Administrative assistant.
Thelma enjoyed working with and meeting people from all backgrounds and cultures. She was also an exhorter in the A.M.E. church. After receiving her theology certificate, she enjoyed the ministry of prayer, preaching and teaching.
Thelma Chenault is preceded in death by her parents Leroy Smith and Otelia Tyler, her sons, Darrell Collins and Frankie Collins; her sister, Linda K. Smith; her brothers, Leroy Smith Jr. and Jessie Lee Smith; and former spouses Lee Collins Sr and Lloyd Chenault.
Thelma Chenault is survived by her son Lee Collins, her sister Rose Mary Dears, her stepmother Dorothy Smith and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great grandchildren and extended family to carry on her legacy.
The memorial service will be held on 09/25/2021 at 12:30pm at Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship, 6602 S. Staples St., Corpus Christi, TX 78413
