John Mark Urrate passed away of atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease at his home in Pflugerville on December 31st, 2020. Born in Stamford Texas on August 13,1967 he lived in Texas for most of his life, but also called New Orleans, LA home for many years. John Mark was a father, son, brother, and nephew who was survived by his wife Kelly Urrate, son Jordan Urrate, father Sam Urrate, mother Carol Smithe, step- mother Janet Urrate, sister Kristen Urrate, and brother Dr. David Urrate. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving friends from his days at Lutheran High School, LSU, and time spent managing the family restaurant Brunings. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his step-father Walter Smithe, his uncle Jimmy Urrate, and several friends.
John Mark was a passionate LSU fan who would never miss an LSU game and two of his favorite things in the world were having fun with friends and family at his house on Lake Pontchartrain and walking his beloved dog J.R. Ewing around Pflugerville. He truly loved everyone that he met and had a passion for good food, big laughs, and having fun. He will be greatly missed by everyone that he crossed paths with throughout his life and he will remain forever in our memories as well as in our hearts.
